Whilst exhibiting with my classmates for the New Designers fair 2024 (Nottingham Trent university class of Illustration BA (HONS) I was awarded the Association of Illustrators Spotlight award.
"An illustrator who has built an industry ready portfolio, bringing innovative and fresh creative voice"
Alongside winning I was very excited to be exhibiting work with all my classmates in London at New designers it was a great opportunity to meet other graduates from creative courses and see all their hard work but to also get experience setting up our stall and our work in a creative way.
Our stall looked at the theme of digital nostalgia a lot of our class grew up experimenting with early digital art applications such as Microsoft paint so we wanted to use that theme of nostalgia in the digital age to drive our stall's overall theme. We used cardboard we had around from previous university projects and used them to create huge icons which we then painted for stands to hold our work or act as props, trying to work with materials we had to be sustainable and considerate of waste.
Our stall transported viewers into the desktop exploring this idea of digital innovation and the link to the past. we even had individual pixel portraits of ourselves that we created to put a face to our work hung up.
